A semi truck fire occurred on 11/30/20 on US 36 in Edgar County at 075E, just west of IL 49. District 5 IDOT is requesting bids for milling and re-surfacing a section of damaged pavement with the following stipulations: 1. The section we would like replaced on US 36 at 075E, just west of IL 49, is approximately 14.5' wide by 36' long in the westbound lane and 6' wide by 16' long in the eastbound lane. 2. The work will need to be completed in accordance with the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction in Illinois, adopted April 1, 2016. 3. Traffic Control Standard 701201 needs to be applied for traffic control on US 36. 4. Milling 2 inches of asphalt off the surface of pavement is required in accordance with Article 400.04 of Standard Specs. The milling machine needs to be capable of milling 6 foot width minimum. 5. Placement of asphalt tack coat (prime) and hot-mix asphalt surface course (2 inch compacted) in accordance with Section 406 of the Standard Specs. An asphalt paving machine will be required and the pavement surface will be tested for smoothness and compaction. 6. The hot mix asphalt mix design will be a hot mix asphalt surface course mix "C", N50. The contractor's HMA mixture will need to be reviewed and approved by the IDOT District 5 Materials Office prior to award of this contract. 7. Contractor communication with IDOT District 5 needs to be maintained for timely completion of the work taking into consideration weather forecasts, air temperature requirements and roadway emergencies that may arise. One week's notice will be required prior to starting work. Should the bid exceed $20,000, the Vendor awarded with the bid must wait until a signed contract is executed before beginning work.
